The White Mountain Trading Post is a FREE living history museum, located in the San Luis Valley right on scenic Hwy 160, in the town of Fort Garland.

Take a tour through our historically reproduced dwellings that are realistically outfitted with original and reproduction artifacts.

Come to a place where the good guys still wear white hats and the bad guys still go to jail. Feel what it was like to sleep on a Navajo bed and experience being a prehistoric Indian. Unruly children? No problem, they can try out the 1800’s jail! Learn about our country’s unsung good guys and maybe reconsider those that we thought were good.

Watch a reenactment of a old west gunfight and learn how Wild Bill really killed Phil Coe. See a blacksmith make a knife or learn how to make lye soap. And the best part? It is all Free!
